We’ve always been proud of the work that has been made available for release over the years by many of our favourite Labels, with artists like Monolake, Ulrich Schnauss, Manual, Sleepy Town Manufacture and Ruxpin making their way onto the list to name but a few.
Now, the album which made Myrakaru’s name in Intelligent Dance Music back in 2000 after its release on British Label Expanding Records is available for download from the Sutemos servers… gratis, as always.
Myrakaru are Indrek Tamm and Joel Tammik, who represent perhaps the most well-known project grounded in IDM throughout the Baltic States. Their album Tammetoru, however, received worldwide critical acclaim upon its release in 2000. The duo made an outstanding debut with this lyrical piece of work, but decided to part ways soon afterwards. Nevertheless, both Tamm and Tammik remain two of the most formidable producers of Electronica in Estonia, and can often be found center stage at some of the biggest music festivals in the Baltic States. To date, Joel Tammik has made several individual releases on Sutemos over the years, as well as having undertaken a number of solo albums released on Belgian Label U-Cover. Indrek Tamm currently features several of his own offerings on Intelligent Toys 05, due for release on Sutemos soon.
London-based Electronica Label Expanding Records provided the platform for the debut of Tammetoru, and continue to maintain a strong position as patrons of some of the most cutting edge Electronic music available today. Artists including Benge, Fibla, Vessel, Maps and Diagrams, Flotel, Stendec, Praveen, Monoceros, Sovacusa, and Modern Institute have all been a part of the Expanding stable over the course of the Label’s history.”

Number fourteen at Serein marks the most welcome return of Muhr, the man responsible for the first release in the Serein catalog many moons ago. Whilst Muhr has contributed many tracks to other labels in the interim, we’re honoured to present his latest offering, which may be his most confident effort yet. Poussiere (meaning ‘dust’) is very much a development of a sound Muhr has been exploring for some time, the undercurrents of previous offerings are present (notably ‘we are desolved’ and ‘la chute du romantisme en ballades’ released at Miasmah), but to my mind Poussiere reaches beyond these – the music is raw, unshackled and full of angst that grips you from the off. By no means an easy listen, Poussiere is an album that toys with your emotions, one moment lifting you above the clouds with beautiful string arrangements and toy melodies, the next dragging you down into a suffocating world of thrash guitar and dense drones. This is a beast that will take several listens to tame, and you owe it to yourself to do so.

‘On my real name Daniel Stanciu, I’m a 21 year-old Constanta-born computer science student at the Bucharest University. I’ve been making tracks for a few years, trying to focus on the emotional aspect of music rather than its technical side. The style ranges from 8-bit and oldschool-electro to dub, downtempo and ambiental music with vague references to maths, fuzzy childhood memories and old video games. Had an EP released on Romanian netlabel Arhiva7 and currently working on two more (I suppose). Live performances included playing at the Wilsonic Festival in Bratislava and also at several Romanian festivals like Rokolectiv, TMBase, UndergroundTM, Studentfest etc., plus a few improv sessions at the Bucharest Dance Center.’

“Traum-a” reveals what Twile identifies as his four obsessions: filtered violin, glitch sounds, dub bass lines, and contemplative melodies. Going beyond standard dubtech, the tracks contain definite and extended harmonic arrangements.

Twile, whose real name is Jarmo Huhta, is a Finnish, Helsinki-based musician with an MA in ethnomusicology. Having composed music for art exhibitions and theater and following a previous appearance on the Comatronic netlabel with his well-received “Chiaroscuro” EP (2005) described in the liner notes as dub-inspired and “saturated with sadness”, his debut on netlabel Autoplate brings to its listeners his own poignant and unique blend of dubtech and electronica.

These sprites, according to many legends, show up most vividly when nature seems to work on its bloom, in the early hours of the day, and mostly then in springtime.
